1 Whimbrel there this morning (Sat 10 Dec)

Relatively few birds in total but plenty of variety between 09.00 and 10.30. A female Merlin and a Peregrine both seen on the grassy area between the sluice and Burnham. Good numbers of Skylark, Lapwings, 2 Ravens, 3 Stock Doves, 2 Reed Buntings, Avocets, just a single Oystercatcher, Redshanks, Curlews and Dunlins scattered along the shoreline, Shoveler, Wigeon (only 4) and Teal. The most surprising absentees were Shelducks that seemed to be having an away day from an area where they are almost guaranteed to be seen but not today.
