I came across the hybrid Chiloe Wigeon x Mallard yesterday at Clatworthy Reservoir, showing with Mallard in the North West and South West arms. Now confirmed as a hybrid Chiloe Wigeon x Mallard. Not much else there of note apart from 6 Teal. Not even any Tufted Ducks. In common with Wimbleball Lake numbers of wintering wildfowl are now very low.

For those interested in an image of this or the Wimbleball Lake White-fronted Goose etc this can be found on my Twitter account. The easiest way to find it is to google @alastairsteven7 or if that doesn’t work try Alastair Stevenson exmoor twitter.

Thanks Mike. That was one of the possible hybrids. I managed to track down a photo of those birds and it is a very close match to the bird on the Hawn, so I think that is what it is.

I came across this bird on Tuesday and initially thought it was a Chiloe Wigeon, then wondered about a female American Wigeon. After having sought other opinion it would appear to be a hybrid duck, most likely a Chiloe Wigeon crossed with something else, but not another Wigeon due to bill shape, dark loral line etc.
