Yes, I’ve found that some browsers flag it as a security concern, whereas others are perfectly happy. So I just switch browser…
For colour rings with no code euring takes you to the cr-birding website (Using www address):
https://euring.org/data-and-codes
Chrome & other browsers are causing the problem by changing the goalposts without informing the website owners.
Indeed. A lot of the links on the website seem to point to what look like home run websites done by would-be webmasters and may not be very secure. I’m going to check out euring.org to see if that’s any good. The site is hosted by the BTO on behalf of EURING so may be a bit more secure.
He seems to own both www & Https addresses, lots of sites are getting authentication issues currently:

Just a general info comment and/or warning, on Mike’s post from way back in December 2020 with the URL link to CR-Birding.
Although the url looks fine, it has an invalid domain certificate, (Error code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN)... it uses a certificate that is not valid for ‘www.cr-birding.org’.
My software is showing this warning. ‘If you visit this site, attackers could try to steal information like your passwords, emails, or credit card details’ and blocks it.
The correct site for the Site Identifier Certificate is for https://cr-birding.org (without the ‘www’).
It may be just a glitch on the authentication servers, the website or indeed the certificate itself has incorrect info in it relating to the domain naming convention and or the url or just be out of date or I might be talking a load of old codswallop. But rather than force a connection to the site which may be a ‘spoofed’ one with a malicious code injector or one that just harvests data field entries, who knows? Some of you may have antivirus software or ‘in browser’ protection that redirects you to the correct site.
and can I add, please do let me have any sightings of colour ringed birds - ours are red with white letters, either on here or to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
thanks!
This is a good time to announce that there will be an article on colour-ringed Great White Egrets in Somerset in the new edition of The BIttern, due to be published very soon.
On Friday 10 Sept. Andrew Kirby and I saw a G. W. Egret on Tealham Moor wearing a White colour ring with black legend K367. I checked with the ringers in Belarus and itis one of theirs.
Ringed on 16 May 2020 at 52.600N 25.1667E Rectitsa Byarroza Disrict Belarus. that’s 1925 Km from sighting point and this is the first sighting since it was ringed.
When I reported this sighting I was told by the ringers that there is a second of theeir birds from the same rining site that has been seen in Somerset at Bawdrip , Stawell and Ham Wall it has ben around since27 Nov. 2020 ( Bawdrip) and last seen Ham Wall 21st July 2021 ring no. K387.
Worrying that they were similar numbers so photos of Both have been checked and yes they are different birds!
Says it was rung in Germany, but think that’s a mistake, as project is definitely Belarus:

From Twitter:
On Friday 27 November a ringed Great White Egret was observed in Somerset.
Records show that it was ringed in May this year as a ‘Pullus’ (young bird) in Belarus
