Reports circulating on twitter that the White Stork flew NW at 10.15 (from Mark Moor?) and hasn’t been seen since. Several reports of a White Stork over sites in Gloucestershire this pm (including Slimbridge) so it looks like it might have moved on. Unless anyone knows better, of course.
White Stork present at 1500hrs today Thurs. north side of Totney Drove (main drag) on Tealham three or four fields East of point where the North Drain passes under the road and in passing homeward the White Fronted Goose was still with us, just south of the Daggs lane car park at the Westhay Reserve
Had a scout around Tealham, Tadham & Allerton Moor this afternoon but no sign of the Stork. The Cattle Egret was (as previously reported) in the field at the West end of Tealham Moor opposite the Mark turning associating with 3 Little Egrets.
A White Stork flew WNW over Butleigh at 13.05. It appeared to be going to land, but a 40 minute drive around the lanes failed to re-find it. Birdguides reports that it was over Meare village at 12.32, so presumably it is doing a circuit and could well end up back at Tealham
Still present in the same area at 12:00, also the White Front still in field with Mute Swans at Westhay Moor at 12:15
White stork present again this morning at 1030 on left of the drove driving from the west hay direction about half mile before Mark turning
No sign at Tealham so far this am, the Cattle Egret still present in the field before the turning to Mark
A White Stork was seen passing south of 70 Acres on Shapwick around 1100hrs. heading South East towards Glastonbury only to reappear again over Meare village north of the scrape around 1230 heading North West in the direction of Westhay, so presumably it went on a long anti clockwise journey and ended up pretty much were it came from this morning judging by earlier posts and twitter!
Back at the western end of the moor (same field where there are often Yellow Wags) at 3pm this afternoon. No sign of the reported Cattle Egret.
White Stork in a field at Tealham Moor 1.55pm per Twitter + Cattle Egret also on moor near Westham.
More Twitter news this pm is a Common Tern on Noah’s Lake, Shapwick Heath.
Maybe spoke too soon. White Stork seen flying NW over Catcott Lows at c.12.45pm (per Alison Everett), so might be heading back to Mark Moor/Tealham Moor area.
Sadly not, I think, John. It was still in the same field as last night at 7.30am this morning and stayed there till 9am at least, but subsequently it has been seen back on Tealham Moor (with a Cattle Egret, apparently), SE over Meare Heath, and the last message noted it circling over Ham Wall at 11.45am.
I relocated the White Stork this evening on Mark Moor at approx ST 384450 in a field just north of a field with a flock of Mute Swans. No rings seen.
A White Stork was briefly on the ground at the West end of Tealham Moor at 1430 this afternoon. It lifted off circling several times souh west toward the North Drain Pumping Station. Gaining hieght I lost it heading west after 8 minutes. Took a couple of snaps and it doesn’t appear to be ringed.
