Plenty of whimbrel (probably 40, but very mobile on the incoming tide so hard to count exactly) off the yacht club, with at least 4 bar-tailed godwits among them, and another flock of ten barwits flying over and inland. Along with flocks of dunlin, ringed plover and redshank, and roosting curlews and oystercatcher. The peregrine was on the stump on Steart Island too.
At Berrow there was a good flock of waders including Bar-tailed Godwit, Whimbrel, Sanderling, Dunlin, Ringed Plover and a summer plumaged Curlew Sandpiper found by Brian Slade. Sad though how often the flock was disturbed by dogs. Also in the dunes, Cuckoo, Whitethroat , and a few Swallows over.
120 Bar-tailed Godwits, 35 Whimbrel, Common Sandpiper on brue estuary from yacht club this morning - Peregrine on post at end of Stert Island - then 4 Arctic Skuas flew over island and headed inland!
