Cool!

It must be like a large puddle now, it had certainly shrunk loads between my two most recent visits.

This morning 6.20 Green Sandpiper feeding on what’s left of the flooded corner of the field near Perry Farm, East Nynehead, ST150224, Watched it for about 15mins until it flew into some nearby taller vegetation and didn’t reappear.

After seeing the tweet below on Sunday I decided to take a walk up to Oake Manor Golf Club. I didn’t see the Redshank but there were three Tufted Ducks (2M, 1F) a Little Grebe, plus Canada Geese, Little Egret, Grey Heron, Mute Swans, Mallard, Moorhen, Grey Wagtails, Cormorants.

Walking back to Wellington I got in a pickle with footpaths which meant I headed back via East Nynehead. Near Perry Farm, in between the village and the small Nynehead sewage works, I saw a pond in a field adjacent to the footpath, after a moment I saw something moving on the far edge, lo and behold it was the Redshank!

It was the only bird in the pond, that is until a few minutes later when a pair of Mallards turned up, the female looking as though it was some sort of hybrid, very dark in colour with a lighter bill (I have photos but terrible quality). Carrying on home and the Dipper was once again on the River Tone.
