Interesting Gary. Probably the same bird was hunting over 70 acres in Shapwick Heath this morning (25th). Really persil white with black wing tips in the sun. My first sight of a male for several years in Somerset.
Seen today between Shapwick and Ashcott villages, then presumably the same bird 2 hours later over Shapwick Moor. Stunning bird.
Elsewhere on my essential travels/ exercise about 30 cattle egrets to the west of Walton just off the A39.. on my circular walk through Shapwick Heath, bittern booming and a minimum of 3 female Marsh Harriers.
