Six goosanders (3m,3f) at the Westhay 30-acre lake yesterday morning. There have been varying numbers there over the last few weeks.

Yesterday morning there were 3 goosanders remaining on the lake (compared to 10 last week). 1m and 1f had paired up, and there was a lone male that gave the best photographic opportunities (quite a bit better than last week!). Photos added on page below (scroll down for the updates).

There was a group of goosanders at Westhay 30-acre lake yesterday morning: a tight group of seven and between 2 and 4 others more widely dispersed. The group of seven were very frisky; one of the males ended up being hotly pursued by three females, and he went on to mate with one of them in front of the viewing screen. All very entertaining to watch! I’ll blog this later (either today or tomorrow) to post some photos.
