On North Hill early this morning a Red Kite seen between the Tank Trap area and the next car park

1 Red Kite spotted this evening soaring briefly over Cheddar Reservoir and then headed eastwards over Cheddar Gorge.

Red Kite flew up our valley from Withycombe going west past Dumbledeer yesterday the 30th at about 3pm, this is the third I have seen here in the last 10 years.

Helping Kay in our garden in Street this afternoon had its reward… an adult Peregrine flew over eastward hotly pursued by two mobbing Herring Gulls at 14:30, then 25 mins later raucous calls alerted me again and there was a Red Kite being mobbed by presumably the same two gulls as it flew slowly northwest.

This the 5th Red Kite to overfly our house in the 26 years we’ve lived here. The first was in 2002, then 2006, 2008, 2009 and today.
