Little to see on the cold frozen moor this morning apart from two very cold dejected looking Cattle Egrets.

Around 6 Bearded Tits located today at Westhay Moor with 2 seen flying over and 2 heard just north of the Island Hide and a further 2 heard between the car park and the main hide. A flock of Redpoll also flew over near the Tower Hide and a few Snipe were seen again near the Island Hide. Redwing also put on a good show with a few flocks seen and Cetti’s Warblers were very vocal around the reserve with a pair seen flying over near the car park. As well as this there were about 3 Marsh Harriers seen. Ducks included Wigeon, Shoveler and Gadwall.
A visit to Westhay this morning produced several small flocks of Bearded Reedling some numbering up to a dozen or more. Flocks of Snipe up to twenty or so were constantly flying backwards and forwards. A marsh harrier made a few distant fly pasts. A kestrel was very active hovering over the reed beds. Small groups of cattle Egrets pasted through on occasion.
Sadly did not spot any of the stonechats that were evident last week.
