Reported again, similar time this morning
Westhay - Island Hide. The Spotted Crake flew across the channel (right to left) about 50 feet away from the hide at 6.53pm, then it was in view continuously for over 5 minutes from 7pm, as it initially reappeared from the small patch of phragmites, crossed the small open patch, then made its way around the edge of the reedbed in front of the hide. It then paused in view for about 20 seconds, before flying back across the water channel (left to right) and proceeded to come towards the hide as it clambered its way over the edge vegetation, until it disappeared back in to the reedbed and was lost from view at 7.06pm. I think that there is every chance that it will reappear at about this time tomorrow evening, for those who want to give it a try. Light was still pretty good as the sky was bright this evening.
