Weatherwise a very mixed day of Sun, Heavy rain and Thunder. Difficult photographic conditions but an excellent few hours.

Still a good selection of Teal, Wigeon, Shoveler, Pintail and Snipe.
Small flock of Black Tailed Godwits.
A pair of Curlew
A pair of Golden Plover (flying overhead)
A fair number of hirundines, probably Sand Martins, passing through West to East
A Water Rail near the elevated hide.
Juvenile Peregrine (right in front of hides)
2 Marsh Harriers and 1 Buzzard
6 Little Egrets and 1 GWE somewhat distant
Lots of exciting behaviour from the Lapwings and Redshanks

Visited Greylake this morning, between 10.45 and 12.00. Bright, but a cold wind.
Interesting behaviour from a Moorhen that shimmied up a bullrush stem to take a big beakful of the fluffy seeds at the top…...for nesting?
Never seen this before, but they were getting amorous earlier!
Despite James saying the duck numbers were greatly reduced last week, there was a lot there today!
All the usual, a lone male Pintail included.
50-80 Black Tailed Godwits were put up by a low helicopter!
At the back of the reserve was a Great White Egret. Plenty of Snipe dotted about too.
A Curlew flew over, and a Water Rail was busy looking for food to the left of the lookout hide.
Also seen was Marsh Harrier, Peregrine, Kestrel and Buzzard.

Cold with showers at Greylake this morning 04-03-2016. Jerry Hawkins reported a brief visit by two Bewick’s Swans that quickly moved away ,Two Great-white -Egrets flew past at the rear of the reserve , one Peregine at its usual dead tree perching site,a large number of Black-tailed -Godwits perhaps up to 80 but not clearly visible present ,Marsh Harrier made an appearance but very distant.Duck numbers now seem to be much reduced, snipe numbers still good.
