Longrun meadow is also my local birding patch,Iwas there yesterday morning quite early before it gets busy with walkers and dogs.i have seen many reedbunting’s and reedwarbler’s.A few blackcaps, along with whitethroat’s.i was lucky enough to see a partridge in the field next to roughmoor farm.A kestrel hovering in the distance. On my home I walked through frenchweir crossed over the bridge, headed along the path towards Tesco on the bank was a water vole, cleaning himself ,while people were walking by unaware of what was going on.
During regular walks around the above. Reed Buntings especially males frequently seen around the lake but spreading out into the grassy fields and rape seed field adjacent to the lake. Mallards and Moorhens with family groups. Away from the lake at least three Blue Tits visiting nest boxes in the small clump of trees next to the River Tone. Overhead good numbers of Swifts and House Martins. Grey Heron amongst the reeds. Small numbers of Greenfinches and Song Thrushes also present.
Away from the meadow. Good numbers of Swallows around farm buildings between Bishop’s Hull and Bradford on Tone.
