Red Kite over fields near Butleigh war memorial again today. Whitethroat in hedge close by. Otherwise all rather quiet

Today’s early afternoon walk produced Red Kite over fields near Butleigh war memorial, Whitethroat on Wood Lane, male Kestrel mobbed by Jackdaws at top of Compton Street.

Very few Chiffchaff in stark contrast with the last few days, no Yellowhammer.

Single Yellowhammer, single Whitethroat and a pair of Blackcap on Wood Lane, Butleigh this lunch-time. Also,  more Chiffchaff than I have ever heard here before.

At least 3 Yellowhammer heard and one seen on a walk along Compton Street and Wood Lane, Butleigh this afternoon.

First Yellowhammer of the year heard on Compton Street, Butleigh this afternoon. This area has been a reliable site to see and hear Yellowhammer but 2019 was a very poor year. Hopefully 2020 will see a return to previous numbers.
