Nice couple hours sat on a lounger in the back garden in Frome. Steady trickle of House Martins all heading west and my first Hobby of the Summer travelling through in the same direction.  Also a Peregrine over and the usual Sparrowhawk and Buzzards. Staying at home’s not all bad!!!

Sparrowhawk and magpie nest building by my garden on a pause, possibly due to cooler weather?  A walk downstream from Frome to Old Ford (no driving involved) produced a green sandpiper, 20+ mandarins and 18 pied wagtails feeding on a bit of muddy flood at Lullington.  Pair of goosanders seen twice near Wallbridge, and also in central Frome, which is good.  The rookery near Cheese and Grain is growing, after establishing a small number of years ago.  And at East Woodlands, again no driving involved and before complete lockdown, I found a very young squirrel on the ground below a tree, with enormous head and paws/claws, though minute body and threadbare tail.  A local cat was eyeing it carefully, and I hope I put it high enough in the tree for the cat to give up and its parent to collect it when it gave a very high pitched squeak.
