Hi Robin, I have seen no avocets over Taunton in the last 10 days ! but in recent years i have found the heads of avocet at the base of ST Mary Magdeleine Church this time of year so i presume these birds are on passage!

On the 14th September the Falcon (JY) returned at 04:12 to the Church with an Avocet.

It is most likely that the bird was flying overhead and as I think that it is unlikely that JY flew out to the Steart area. So just out of interest does anyone know if Avocets have been seen feeding closer to Taunton over the last 10 days.
