Robin I am not certain, I only spent 90 minutes in the hide and there was a single Grebe sitting on the nest in that time. This could be the 3rd Grebe that was showing last weekend with the Grebe family. I bumped into several people that was looking for the Grebe family and had come to that conclusion. Hopefully we presumed incorrectly and they are in a safer place. It’s promising to know that you got glimpses of them Friday afternoon. I would be interested to know.
Hi Paul, stunning images of the Garganey. That is sad news about the humbugs but are you 100% sure that the humbugs are gone? I only ask as I was there on Friday afternoon and the adults had taken the 4 humbugs to the far area of open water and they were only just visible through a gap in the reeds, but then closer to the Marsh Harriers. There was another single Grebe in front of the Hide. Robin.
3 Stunning Drake Garganey very close to North Hide Westhay Moor Nature Reserve, Westhay, between 11:30 - 12:50. They then flew off separately and 2 of them settled way out on the 30 acre lake.

Unfortunately the family of Great Crested Grebes (4 Humbug’s) seen last weekend are no more. The 4 humbugs have been predated.
