9 Cattle Egrets (5 ad: 4 juv) loafing around the dead trees at Canada Farm lake until I left at midday, also 3 GW’s and 15 Little Egrets all making this a unique sight for the UK.

9 Cattle Egrets in the Catcott area yesterday evening - there may be more? Also 2 Ravens and 7 Buzzards including a very pale morph following a tractor which was cutting sedges on the reserve.
16-July-2018,
Successful breeding: found two pairs of Cattle Egrets on the Avalon Marshes, each pair together with a fledged juvenile, though not at Catcott Lows.
Nine cattle egrets flew down with cattle late afternoon then flew off east. Also great white, male marsh, three buzzards plus two ravens feeding on the head of a dead cow.
No Cattle Egret present yesterday evening, but 2 Yellow Wagtails in flight , 1 or 2 Snipe and a hunting Barn Owl were of the best of the few birds present.
I hope that posting isn’t out of order, but according to the Log book Cattle Egrets have been visible at Catcott for most of June, anyway the last log entry was June 20th. Interestingly the Log book contains very few entries for Apr and May and a whole page for June regarding Cattle Egrets!
On the 1st July, 5 were visible at lunchtime from the other hide, ie not the car park one.
Also seen was a female Sparrowhawk, about a dozen Lapwings…. but generally more Cattle and Horses than birds.
