Looked like at least one more female Garganey this evening, although it wasn’t associating with others or Teal. 6 Blackwits that had left by 7.30pm.

Sunday morning. 3 drake and one duck Garganey on the scrape and the Garden Warbler singing well between the car park and the Tower hide. About 40 Blackwits flew east over Meare Heath plus one unidentified smaller wader.

Both the Garganey and the Black-tailed Godwit were still present at 4pm .  There were also two or three Bramblings in the trees at the back of Noahs hide, probably 2 males and 1 female.

In addition to the Garganey a single Black Tailed Godwit was present early p.m. . first wader of the spring lowered water level!

Garganey still present 13:30. Also a Garden Warbler was a nice find approx. half way along the track from Ashcott Corner Car Park toward Meare Heath.

A male Garganey is the first migrant/passage bird to arrive on Meare Heath since the water level was reduced. There is still very little mud exposed but this is a start. Also many hundreds of hirundines over Noah’s lake in the mist.
