Five hawfinches in St.Mary’s churchyard Bruton at 1pm today. They flew between a large tree by the gate that links the churchyard with the school playing field and a large, ivy clad, tree close to the railway line.
Have had this “mystery” bird that has been quite tamely hanging around my garden for a week here in WEST HATCH. Finally ID’d as a female Hawfinch.
First one ever seen in this very mixed rural area in nearly 20 years.
