27 March. 7:30 - 9:00 Great views of Curlew and then a Peregrine taking a Lapwing for breakfast. 2 Great White Egrets and a small flock of Godwits also in the air.

Fine display of energetic low flying by a female Merlin this morning at Greylake. During a one-and-a-half hour visit saw this three times, it raised clouds of ducks on each occasion.

Thanks for the tip-off, still present, asleep to far left of raised-hide in front of line of pollarded willows at 14:00hrs.

One male Garganey present this morning visible from the main hide at Greylake. Also 2 Peregrines and a female Marsh Harrier keeping the many ducks and waders (including Redshank Curlew and Blackwit) on their toes.  At least 2 GWE seen.

No sign of a hoped for Garganey this afternoon, but 3 Great White Egrets, Marsh Harrier, 34 Black-tailed Godwits and 6 Redshank, plus numerous Snipe; Teal numbers have gone down a lot.

On a very windy morning between 9.00 and 10.00, Greylake from the hide was a moving pageant of birds. Thousands of duck mainly Wigeon and Teal but also Shoveler, Pintail and Mallard plus farther back, several hundred Lapwing and over 1000 Golden Plover. Also 2 Curlew and a few Snipe. All were kept constantly on the wing by a very active Peregrine and 2 female Marsh Harriers.
