Duck numbers at Catcott when I arrived at 13.30 were relatively low - probably about 350 Wigeon, a similar number of Teal, plus 150 Shoveler & 50 Pintail. There was no mass exodus before 15.15 when I left.

One adult and one 1st. winter Whooper Swan on Noah’s today. There must be another couple hiding somewhere at least there were 2 adult and 2 juvs. .several weeks ago.
There were around 1000 of the usual duck present today but then early this afternoon that number was nearly doubled by large flights of duck mainly Wigeon arriving very high from the direction of Catcott or Canada farm , wherever they came from that number of birds arriving together was unique in my experience. It would be interesting to know if there was a mass exodus from Catcott around that time as that is the only place locally I know where such numbers are present.

Mon.1100-1500   At least 8 White Fronted Geese among the Greylag flock in the far S.W corner of the lake the flock flew off after an hour just over the treeline to the south to feed?
Also present 2 adult Whooper Swans but as usual hidden 90% of the time but still using the far N.W. corner which is largely obscured by reed beds and bushes. Around 2000 duck mostly Wigeon with small numbers of Pintail, Pochard,Tufted and Gadwall . Just one female Goldeneye seen with a complete absence of Shoveller and Teal. One Bittern and two Marsh Harriers were the other birds of note
