Not typical habitat, but the description is in some ways similar to Snow Bunting ?

This afternoon there was a strikingly white and black small bird in with the Goldfinches and Chaffinches feeding around the Alder trees on edge of the River Isle to the west end of this site.

Sadly I could not get a really good look at this bird, however these are my observation from the brief moments I was able to get a view of it.

1. It prefers to feed on the ground around the base of the trees.
2. It is bigger than a Goldfinch and when it does pop up into the branches it tends to sit more horizontal than vertical
3. It is predominantly pure white although there appeared to be a yellow hue to the head area.
4. There are dark stripes across the wings, wing bars?
5. It is a bigger more bulky bird than the Goldfinches and so it is more the size of a Greenfinch

Against the grey conditions today, it stood out like a beacon. A stunning little bird but I’m afraid my bird ID skills are not up to this one. My assumption is that is likely to be a Leucistic Great Tit or Greenfinch but if there is anyone looking around this area tomorrow in the better light, watch out for this one. I lost sight of it after about 30mins but there is so much ground cover in the area it is more than likely still around.
