Heron still present, location as per Jeff H, at 19.00
15-June-2017
Adult Purple Heron still present on Noah’s Lake from 14:45 to at least 16:05 when we left it. Looking out from Noah’s Hide to far back RH corner of the Lake, left of the tin-shed and just left of large island, where perched on horizontal tree branch lying in water at reedy lake-edge.
At around 10:55 today, an adult Purple Heron flew east to west behind Meare Heath scrape - only my 2nd record of this species in Somerset. I met a couple of birders from Solihull later, who had also seen an adult Purple Heron earlier in the day, on the deck near Noah’s which later flew to the area of 70 Acres (I have added the location names as they described where they had seen it, but did not know the names of the areas.) They also had a digiscoped photo of the bird. I have asked them to submit their record to the recorder.
