No sign this morning of either the SEO or the Merlin, but in walking out in wellies to free a Mute Swan that was badly snared in elec-fence wire - 150 metres of it left laying along the edge of a rhyne - I was rewarded with a view of a Water Pipit.

No sign of SEO at 15:20, but male Merlin seen inflight & perched in same area.

Short-eared Owl this evening at 16:25, hunting over the western end of Tealham Moor, just east of the road to Westham & Blackford.
