Flock of c.260 Avocets strung out along the far bank of the River Parret at Stockland Reach, as viewed from the Huntspill Sluice this afternoon. Also 1,000+ Dunlin, c.60 Knot, c.80 Golden Plovers and a few Grey Plovers, plus 2 Brent Geese swimming in mid-river.

Went to the Parrett Estuary, Huntspill side today to photograph the dunlin. Only moderate success with that - will have to try again sometime! - but the highlight was approx. 250 avocet. First seen across the water on the Steart side, north of the breach, at around 11:15 which was an hour after high tide but I’m not sure how long they had been there. Then they flew over to my side for a while before departing at 11:40.
