Osprey flushed from a willow tree at approx 1.40pm while I walked my local patch this afternoon.  It was very poor light with a stiff north-easterly breeze.  I suspect the bird was simply resting rather than battling against a head wind.  It flew off to the west low over the fields but despite walking the moor for another hour, I didn’t find it.

In 20 years of visiting this moor, this is the first time I have recorded osprey.
