19-01-2017 After several gloomy days at last a bright frosty morning, so James decided to try his luck and look for the Cattle Egret again,yesterday the bird was on the North side of North Chine Drove below Bagley but at some distance,this morning it had gone AWOL,never mind lets go and see the Goosanders ,five male and two females Goosanders were seen at 30 acres lake,London Drove ,three G-w-Egrets two Little Egrets and a Grey Heron, Coot, and Mallards,continuing along the Drove to visit Lake Hide another G-w-Egret seen.
Entering the hide ,quite a surprise ,a great many Snipe were to be seen along the waters edge, hiding among the reeds one Little Grebe, then a visit by a female Marsh Harrier that banked in front of the hide giving superb views,this put the Snipe in the air,they weren’t to be caught napping by the harrier,the Tufted Duck remained unperturbed and paddled along happily.
