Relatively small starling roosts - c.50,000 on Loxton’s and a second roost on Walton Heath that looked/sounded a bit smaller
at least 8 marsh harriers gathering to roost just east of Avalon Hide (3 males, rest all female/juv)
4+ water pipits bombing around all afternoon, calling
2 glossy ibises and 3 Great white egrets heading west to roost
Cetti’s warblers seemed unusually abundant (maybe because their contact calls were easy to hear in calm conditions) - at least one under every bush, 19+ counted (cf 10 chiffchaffs, 14 goldcrest)
Seeing only 8 woodpigeons felt a bit weird after exile in Bedfordshire/Cambridgeshire
