While photographing Grey Squirrels on the ground in a small woodland clearing this morning, I was amazed to see a large Sparrowhawk (female?) launch an attack. The Squirrel just saw the bird coming and went running towards a tree trunk and the Sparrowhawk just missed it. A terrific sight.
When I went to the spot where the squirrel had been there was a perfect clear line up through the trees to the blue sky. A perfect route for a Sparrowhawk to launch an attack

lovely start to the weekend….. which is dry and sunny… complete opposite of the forecast !
