Both male Ruff still present this morning towards the back of the scrape. First time I have seen a male with fully raised Ruff collar. They looked quite different with the collars retracted and only head and shoulders showing-very black and white so they would have been quite tricky to identify if not forewarned of their presence.

Knowing that the bank in front ha-d been cut Fri morning -and triggered by Ryan’s post, I had a look at the scrape this afternoon and eventually clocked not one but 2 summer plumaged Ruff.  Lookng mainly black and white in the poor light, one was raising it’s ruff and for a change I got this on camera plus the two stood together on the green island! Also present were 16 Blk Wits and one Redshank.

4 Garganey on the scrape today 3M and 1F.  You needed to be up in the new hide to see the nearest on the island due to the height of the bank vegetation!
