What an amazing early morning at Greylake. Nothing unusual, but quality from the residents.

1. 2 Song Thrushes singing their hearts out in the car park.
2. Cuckoo in the car park.
3. MINK (big one!) in the car park.

4. Lapwing Chicks visible from Treetops hide.
5. Coot chicks visible from Treetops hide.
6. Low Bittern flypast
7. Low Swan flypast, two circuits and a bit of a aerial display!

8. Numerous Coot squabbles.
9. Swan squabble.
10. Numberous Lapwing v Lapwing , Lapwing v Crow, Lapwing v Marsh Harrier, Lapwing v Redshank squabbles.

11 Wren nest building, in the same spot as last seen building on 8th May. That’s at least 13 days !!
12 Snipe druming
13 Bittern booming- (Seen and Heard)

14. Grey Herons everywhere, even flying down the path to the hides towards me as I was walking back to the car

15 Marsh Harriers everywhere, in the sky, in the reeds. 2 or maybe 3 birds.

16. Brown warblers/Reedlings everywhere, sitting up and singing from the reeds.

17. Redshanks seemed to be public enemy no. 1 as everyone chased these off.

18. Little Egret fishing infront of the new reedbed loop willow screen.

I’m sure that there were things that I missed, almost impossible to look in all directions…. I really did not want to leave and head off to work !!!

cheers, Robin
