At least five of the grey heron nesting platforms in the reedbeds close to Tor View hide are now occupied. Two of the pairs were mating on the nests this afternoon. Also 400+ shoveler around the Reserve and the 50 or so black-tailed godwit are still at Viewpoint 1, which was also a good vantage point to see the starlings streaming past 1710-1730 this evening. Only the occasional decent murmuration though. They appeared to be going to roost in the NW corner of the Reserve, possibly on to Shapwick Heath.
