Two Snow Buntings & female type Black Redstart still present and showing very well at location previously stated as at 12:30hrs 25 Nov
2 Snow Buntings and the Black Redstart again this morning near the gate/wall as described previously. An adult Snow Bunting flew off west but not relocated but a 1st winter male stayed and showed well. This matches the bird that Nick Wall saw yesterday further to the west. He also had a female in the same area. Close scrutiny of all the available photos in fact shows 4 birds, 2 females and 2 males, a 1st winter and adult.
Stephen Berry found a Snow Bunting early this morning at Porlock Marsh just east of the north end of the main boardwalk. Dave Dawe found 3 alongside the first wall and gate east of here at lunchtime but there was quite a lot of disturbance in the area at the time and he only saw them for a short time before they flew off west and not relocated. However 2 Snow Buntings then appeared late afternoon at 3.20 in the same area by the gate and wall, a first winter type and an adult male. It’s not clear whether these were 2 of the 3 previously seen or not.
Also in the general area described a female type Black Redstart, a bit skittish at times and being frequently harassed by a pair of Stonechats.
