At Steart point today, a whimbrel, flock of about 20 bartailed godwits with some in full summer plumage, a few lingering grey and ringed plovers, and my first two sedge warblers for the year.
Plenty of birds on the move today. Highlights included:
Arctic Skua - four together off Stert Point over high tide. Rested on water before gaining height and heading off over Burnham.
Little Gulls - flock of 8 off Stert Point.
Redstart - male in bushes on east side of Otterhampton and another between Steart village and Tower Hide.
Plus: 4 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 3 Common Scoter, 12 Gannet, 2 Red Kite, 15 Grey Plover, 18 Bar-tailed Godwits, 19 Sanderling, Kittiwake, Med Gull, Water Pipit, 2 Wheatear, 4 Willow Warblers.
100s of hirundines on the move from mid morning. Mostly Sand Martin but c40 Swallow and 12 House Martin amongst them.
