I got to Burnham around 10.00 this morning and the only waders were on the Steart side but as the tide dropped, groups of Ringed Plover came across to the mud off the Burnham sea front and sure enough the Kentish was in the first group. Much paler and rings on both legs so fairly easy to find in bright sun this morning. At least 40 Ringed Plover as well. I also saw a female Goldeneye on Cheddar Res earlier.
Kentish was on the beach this morning until about 10.30am, before following the tide down over the edge of mud (low c.1pm), it reappeared permanently around 2.30pm and moved nearer the slipway by 3.30 - usually with the ringed plovers (some of which are also ringed!)
Kentish was refound on stert island sunday and has also been reported Monday and today
Green rock was already covered at sunrise, but shouldn’t be tomorrow, and only saw redshank/ Dunlin up the brue. However there were 5 cattle egret at huntspill and 1 little egret near lower weare (in field by A38 on drive home)
Kentish not seen morning or afternoon today, but high was around sunrise and set. Next best chance looks to be early on Monday due to tides
There were at least 125 turnstone, 200 Dunlin & 100 redshank roosting along river brue at sunset
Well, the worst is when beach is covered by high…
Most reliable is around sunrise - when they don’t coincide.
At what state of the tide is it best to see the Kentish?
Kentish plover still present and has spent 2 of last 4 days by itself on beach
Red Kite over Marine Drive and Spotted Redshank on the beach.
