Another one in front of them - yellow FLJ ... was ringed during our 2019 roundup. Its metal BTO ring is XY3656. It was aged as code 4 so it was at least in its second year. It wasn’t sexed. It was sighted at the Swannery the following in the summer (2020) and it has previously been sighted at Greylake in the springs of 2024 & 2023.
I have also seen DUL again since December
Hanging out behind the hides:
This Mute Swan was ringed at Abbotsbury Swannery on the 22nd July 2017 during a roundup of non-breeding moulters . As well as the plastic ring Yellow DUL it was given a metal BTO ring XY2925. It was aged as a code 5 so had hatched in 2016. It wasn’t sexed. It weighed 9.9 kl.
It hadn’t hatched at Abbotsbury, as all Abbotsbury cygnets are web tagged when hatched and then ringed just before fledging.
It was subsequently recorded at Abbotsbury in September 2018 so had likely moulted on The Fleet that summer too (if not present the whole time since it was ringed).
There have until now, been no other reports.
