Presumably the same heron that was at Burnham on Saturday
The mixed flock of 400+ Cattle, Little & Great White Egrets on the flooded fields to the south of the reserve was still there today. The Cattle Egrets began leaving at about 5.30pm, and settled to roost in a series of trees on the west side of Long Drove, looking towards Galton’s Canal. I counted 280+, but not all were visible. Cormorants mixed in with the roost.
A juvenile/1st winter Purple Heron flew up from standing water on a track leading into the reserve from the new path alongside Westhay Moor Drove as I was walking back at about 6.30.
