Great to be out really early yesterday and today even though it was misty at 06.00.
Saturday 7.00 Westhay/Honeygar Lane. Very good start with a male Bullfinch in my garden, a rare sight here. Then my first juvenile Swallow on the wires and 3 juv Goldfinch on the feeder Then at Honeygar farm, 4 mammals enjoying the sun. Fox, Rabbit, Hare and Roe deer. Later in Shapwick NNR to Noah’s hide and back. Nothing unusual but a Hobby swooped low over Meare Heath.
Sunday morning, 6.30. Greenfinches and 3 juvenile Goldfinch on my garden feeder. 7.00 Tealham Moor: Cattle Egret, Whitethroat, Skylarks, Yellow Wagtails (at least 3) Stock Doves Reed Buntings, 8.30 Westhay Moor beyond the reserve entrance towards Godney. Three Wigeon, a male and 2 females on the large open pool where there were Goldeneye and Ring-necked Ducks back in February. Not often that I record Wigeon in June.
