Whilst exploring the rocky beach area to the west of Gore Point early this morning I came across a juvenile Shag perched on the rocks, at SS855485. After watching it for a few minutes the bird flew into the sea and gave its characteristic dive by leaping completely out of the water first.

Shags are less common than they used to be off the Somerset coast, and sightings can no longer be guaranteed.
