Woke 06.35 this morning to a Red KIte in the walnut tree in the back garden (Manor Farm)!!  Nice photos.

From the Tower and End Hides over a period of c. 2.5 hours, Geoff Suter and I had around 200 Goldfinches in groups of 3 to 40+ migrating NE along with 150+ Swallows, c.80 House Martins, and c. 30 Sand Martins.  Also two flocks of Barwits (mixed plumages) of 14 + 63 birds; a flock of 14 Blackwits over the river heading towards the Levels; a flock of 2 RInged Plover, 1 Turnstone and 1 Grey Plover; a couple of flocks of DUnlin totalling c. 30 birds; a Peregrine; a female Wheatear, a female Blackcap, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Willow Warbler.  Sadly no wagtails or whimbrels or terns.  The Kite reappeared and flew overhead on the riverbank.

The goldfinches were odd.  I have never encountered such obvious migration of the species before.
