Faded 1st winter Iceland Gull again this morning first seen on sea off main outfall at 9.20 as you enter the main car park then moved west and seen off Dunster chalets outfall and adjacent foreshore for rest of morning. Usually associates with Herring Gulls. Also seen 2 House Martins, mixed flock Sand Martins & Swallows,4 Ringed Plovers, c 350 Linnets on golf course, 2 Cattle Egrets on Dunster Hawn.
No sign of Iceland Gull in brief search yesterday morning and again evening. The 2 Cattle Egrets have been around since the 7th of February when I found them in the field next to Lower Dunster Farm.
An Iceland Gull this morning, initially seen in front of car park , then flew with gulls to the approach road, however the gulls were very mobile, possibly a worn 1st winter bird. 13 Wheatear along the coast path , several small groups of Sand Martin going west, c60 Chiffchaffs- with numerous singing birds. The two Cattle Egrets still around Lower Marsh Farm .
A few migrants about, two Wheatear on short turf in the car park. c.12 Chiffchaffs and a Blackcap around the Hawn as well as a handful of Sand Martins . A Red Kite drifted east at 0915 . Two Cattle Egrets with the Little Egrets around Lower Marsh Farm - still a scarce bird this far west in the county. Still c300 Wigeon on Minehead marsh , both Shoveler and Gadwall also present .
