During the influx that Kevin refers to, there were a number of Hawfinch in the yews near where High Street meets Low Road. Will check them out later if I get time.
Apparently they used to breed in Great Breach Wood, Gerry, which is not too far away. I have seen them there once in recent years when we had that influx to the local churchyards.
My brother lives in Butleigh High St and he had a Hawfinch in his garden this morning ! The first he’d ever seen and I have only ever seen them once before, - a flock on Telegraph Hill, New Foest, Godney, Nr Fordingbridge , Hants - about 40 years ago when I lived in that area.
