Female/immature Black Redstart seen on several occasions on rooftops in Burtle over last couple of weeks including today.
Apparently you have to pay £11 to look for the Glastonbury Abbey Black Redstart!
Photos posted of male at Glastonbury on FB, comment says female / immature also seen this winter
Another FB report of one at Glastonbury abbey (says there have been 2 in previous winters)
Andy Pym found three 1st winter/female types on Porlock Marsh on the 4th of December. There were 2 there the next day, and not seen subsequently. Yesterday one was back. From the end of the main boardwalk where it ends facing the sea, walk east to the next gate and view the area of detritus under the wall there. The bird(s) also perch on the wall. Also there yesterday a flock of around 460 Golden Plover by the breach, most unusual nowadays, presumably forced off the moorland by the wintry weather.
Photos of male Black Redstart in Bridgwater garden this morning on rspb birders FB page
I briefly saw a male black redstart on eight acre lane in Wellington this morning. There was a female/1st winter I saw occasionally last winter on various roofs between here and Waitrose, so this could be the same bird ‘grown-up’.
Female in Wilstock this week.
Two Black Redstarts around the Dunster chalets number 86 where the sycamores are on the shore side.
Later in the day at Wimbleball lake from the Dam end a Great Northern Diver was present and also 29 Goosander came to roost and a couple of Tawny owl heard, i have never seen the water levels so low apparently only 23% full
