Great day out on the Quantocks with bumper numbers of Wood Warbler, Cuckoo and Redstart among many other things:
Hodder’s Combe: 1 Pied Fly, 1 Spotted Fly, 1 Wood Warbler, 1 Redstart, 1 Grey Wag, 1 Cuckoo calling, 1 Stock Dove and 1 GS Woodpecker.
Shepherd’s Combe: 3 Pied Fly, 1 Spotted Fly, 2 Garden Warbler, 3 Redstart, 2 Cuckoo calling (incl 1 bird seemingly agitated by a third bird towards Bicknoller Combe and then seen flying off towards Vinny Combe later on) and 6 Willow Warbler.
Somerton Combe: 1st Wood Warbler here since 2016, 6 Pied Fly, 3 Redstart, 1 Willow Warbler, 1 Treecreeper, 3 Redpoll, 1 Siskin, 1 Grey Wag and 3 Stock Dove.
Hare Knapp: 1 Cuckoo calling, 1 Tree Pipit, 4 Redstart, 1 Yellowhammer and 1 Swift.
Frog Combe: 3 Wood Warbler, 1 Pied Fly, 1 Tree Pipit, 1 Cuckoo calling, 1 Mistle Thrush and 1 Grey Wag.
Holford Combe: 1 Spotted Fly, 2 Wood Warbler, 6 Pied Fly, 1 Cuckoo calling, 1 Siskin over and 3 Grey Wag.
Dowsborough Woods: 5 Wood Warbler, 7 Pied Fly and 1 Redstart.
Lady’s Combe: 1 Cuckoo calling, 1 Wood Warbler, 4 Pied Fly, 1 Spotted Fly and 1 Redstart.
Aisholt Common and Combe: 1 Cuckoo calling, 2 Spotted Fly, 4 Redstart, 1 Tree Pipit, 2 Garden Warbler, 4 Mistle Thrush, 3 Siskin over, 1 Yellowhammer, 2 Marsh Tit, 3 Nuthatch, 2 Treecreeper and 1 Grey Wag.
