Fabulous male Hen Harrier this morning, drifted downriver and then crossed over low towards the Sluice, landed, and flew off northwards. First HH I’ve ever seen here - patch list now 144! Also 4 Goosanders (~3 males), loads of Golden Plover and Lapwing, Kingfisher just above sluice, Pink-footed Geese and 300+ Avocets.
Popped up yesterday (15th Jan ) mid morning and saw

Grey Heron’s
Red Shank
Curlew
Dunlin
Sadly low tide so no sign of the whimbrel.
Misty morning on Huntspill/Parrett, but after it cleared some great birds, including 75 Curlews, 1 Whimbrel (presumably same bird as Martin saw in Dec as they are very unusual in winter in Somerset), Bar-0tailed and Black-tailed Godwits, female Marsh Harrier and 4 Golden Plover. Also Kingfisher, Goosander and Water Rail by Sloway bridge.
The tide had dropped on my arrival at 8.45 leaving a huge amount of vegetation on the paths and fields but, despite the weather, I had a very good 75 minutes birding.
Main sightings were.
