I have seldom seen so much exposed mud in the middle of the Parrett estuary as there was today and it created a popular area for birds. Little Egrets, Grey Herons, more than 100 Blackwit, 2 Barwit, 100+ Dunlin, 20 Oystercatcher, Black headed, Common, Herring and GBB Gulls, Redshank and Curlew. Also a notable sight for me, my first Brent Goose of the year flew down past the sewage outfalls and Stert Island before going out of sight. There were quite a few Avocets but they tended to stay farther up the river. Plenty of Wigeon on the Steart side.
