Despite lack of mud and no waders on Meare Heath a good selection of birds were seen during our walk this morning. Great, Little and Cattle Egrets , Grey Heron, Bittern, Kingfisher, at least two Hobby, Sparrowhawk, Marsh Harriers and Buzzard. On Noahs a distant tern suggested a marsh tern but when perched closer we settled in favour of Common Tern, also one Egyptian Goose. Small groups of Swallows and Martins but Chiff Chaff and Blackcap were the only passerine migrants. Thanks to all who came and sharp eyes for finding the birds!
