Westhay Moor 24/8: GW Egret, 1 Hobby, 1 Bittern, 2 calling Water Rails, 1 juv Marsh Harrier.
Tealham Moor 24/4: 5 Wheatears mostly sitting on hay bales.
Tealham Moor 27/8: 6 Whinchat all along Totney Drove, 2 Wheatear, 2 Stonechat, & 1 Kestrel with a blue ring on its left leg showing “F1”.
Catcott Complex including the Lows, Fen, Heath and the very “Spooky” area that used to be termed Catcott North! : 50+ Catttle Egrets, 20+ Yellow Wagtail, 1 Water Rail in flight, 2 GW Egrets, 13 Snipe & 2 Little Egrets making for a “three egret sp” siting. A Tawny Owl calling from the woods plus a Kingfisher and another Water Rail calling by the Tower Hide whilst in a vain search for the Purple Heron!
Now is a good time to visit some of the more seldomly watched sites on the levels: Canada Farm, Shapwick Moor (Hawk & Owl Trust area), Westhay Heath (from the drain footpath), Shapwick Woods and Decoy Hide, Chilton & Edington Moors, Gold Corner, Catcott Heath & woods etc. etc.
