At Hamwall today viewed 2 bitterns in flight over Waltons plus a marsh harrier. Many Water Rail and chiffchaffs calling.  I left the RSPB car park at 13:00 and turned right towards Meare. Approx 300 yards after crossing the South drain bridge I had to stop the car to allow a pair of bitterns to walk across the road from east to west!!  On reaching the grass verge they took off and flew in a north westerly direction. Redpoll in trees at ‘warbler corner’ yesterday. Water Rail giving close views at Tor View hide yesterday.
